My First Pitch at Wrigley Field

The 7 year old me sitting on my living room floor, crushing Apple Sauce while watching Harry Carey call Andre Dawson Homers could have never dreamed this one up.  But IT HAPPENED.  It REALLY did.  I got to share it with my girls and my college friends who flew countless hours to witness it.  Thank You!  And thank you Cubbies for that walk off win!  WOW, what a night!

It all happened.  To my friends that came so far for this moment, I thank you.  Your friendship exceeds the actual pitch.  To my daughters, I’m so proud my girls got to see their Dad throw out the first pitch at Wrigley Field.  As for Mrs. Ballgame, You are the reason I got here.  You pushed me forward when I was comfortable standing still.  There were a few nerves, but that was overshadowed by the presence of those mentors of my past looking down from above.  I actually had a nice, peaceful feeling up there.  Dreams really do come true.  I dedicate the pitch to all those kids with all those nicknames that inspire me EVERY day.  Why do I smile all the time?

James Lowe, AKA Coach Ballgame, writes relatable stories for coaches and parents to support them in raising up young ballplayers who love the game, are quality players, and who don’t burn out early. For the love of baseball! Let’s show them the way.
